Box Making Made Easy...Students at all levels of experience are invited to bring a small book of their choosing to this two day class. Techniques for measuring and constructing a clam shell box will be thoroughly presented and practiced. No rulers or difficult formulas will be used. Students will complete the box in two days including the trays and outer case and go home with their book fully enclosed and protected. No experience necessary. All tools and supplies will be provided.

Book Arts: Marbling for Small Books and Boxes...Students will learn to marble papers in both traditional and innovative ways. Then these papers will be used to make small format books and boxes. Miniature projects allow for numerous projects in a week and can be remade at home in much larger sizes. Fun for all, no prior experience required.

Old Books and New Books...Traditional hand bookbinding and restoration. Students will learn traditional hand bookbinding to construct new books and boxes using materials including paper, board, adhesives, leather and cloth. For those interested in old books, old books will be cleaned, repaired, deacidified, rebacked, conditioned and preserved. Focus is on techniques, materials and products used by professional hand binders. No experience necessary, just a love of books.

Leather Bindings with Metal Clasps...Dea team-teaches with metal engraver Tom Patterson.. Students will construct leather bound books and learn to create bronze and brass clasps and closures for their books. Some book experience is helpful. Metal experience not needed. Refer to FS website.
